I recently completed a medical health internship in Malawi with Helping Your Community Forum (Hycf) at Karonga District Hospital, and it was an incredible experience! From the moment I arrived at Lilongwe Airport, I was warmly welcomed by David, my host, who made me feel at ease. The scenic drive to Karonga was breathtaking, and I was excited to experience Malawian culture and explore Nkhatabay and Nyika National Park during my weekends. At Karonga District Hospital, I had the privilege of working in various departments, thanks to Hycf's partnership with the hospital. I was mentored by professional medical staff who shared their expertise and guided me in many areas. The entire hospital team was supportive and made me feel part of their family. This internship offered me hands-on experience in a resource-limited setting, broadening my perspective on healthcare. I developed valuable skills, learned about Malawi's healthcare system, and made lifelong connections. David's hospitality, the Hycf team's dedication, and the hospital staff's support made my experience unforgettable. If you're considering a medical health internship in Malawi, I highly recommend Hycf and Karonga District Hospital. Get ready for a life-changing adventure! Highlights of my experience - Warm welcome and hosting by David - Unique cultural immersion and exploration opportunities - Hands-on experience in various hospital departments - Professional mentorship and guidance - Supportive hospital team - Unforgettable experience in Malawi's healthcare setting Thank you, David, Hycf, and Karonga District Hospital, for an incredible journey!

I had an incredible time at the lake with the team. Their warmth and kindness made me feel so welcome. We shared wonderful conversations and moments that I'll always treasure. Thank you it was a truly special experience. I stayed with David and his family for one month to work in the hospital. I had a very good time there. David’s family is very welcoming and friendly and I always felt very well taken care of. The house is very nice, the food is great and in the weekends we had time to explore the rest of Malawi which was amazing. Malawi is a beautiful country and the people are wonderful. Working in the hospital was a very interesting experience, I definitely learned a lot and I’m very happy that I got to have this experience in through David’s ngo. The people at the hospital were once again very friendly and welcoming. The other volunteers that stayed at the house while I was there were also great and I had a good time with them which made my experience in Malawi more memorable. So if you wanna learn about the healthcare system in a different country while staying with the kindest people I recommend this work away.
