My experience at Karongwe has been so memorable.
August 24, 2024by: Daniel CotterProgram: Volunteer Teaching in Cape Town, South AfricaMy experience at Karongwe has been so memorable. The staff have been inspiring and knowledgeable and the structure of the programme lends itself to being inspired to build your own knowledge and confidence. The community outreach aspect was, although more of a challenge for me, one of the most rewarding aspects and reinforced the importance of wider education in conservation. The project has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had and I hope to return and contribute more to the important research here.
One of the most impactful of my life
March 23, 2020by: Dan - United KingdomProgram: Volunteer Teaching in Cape Town, South AfricaMy experience on the sports programme has been one of the most impactful of my life. The environment created by GVI, the support I've received and the children I've worked with have gone so far beyond my expectations and I would recommend that anyone who has capacity and opportunity to take part in a programme like this, do so.
Great experience
March 13, 2020by: Amelie - United StatesProgram: Volunteer Teaching in Cape Town, South AfricaI spent time with GVI at the Cape Town base in South Africa. GVI felt like home by the third day of my stay. I was welcomed with open arms by the staff and other volunteers from the second I arrived to base. Projects were so fun and I loved every moment of the day. I worked on ECD and I learned so much from the kids that I never would have expected as cliche as that can sound and was given the tools to really thrive and prosper at work. I also did womens empowerment and was able to see different groups of people from the townships and learn more through them. GVI made sure my time here was as positive as possible and every problem/issue I had they dealt with right away in the best way. The other volunteers I worked with here are now friends I will have for life and people who I share some of my fondest moments with. Every day I've been here has been so fun and there hasn't been a dull moment, whether its filled with projects, shopping trips, hikes, festivals, beach days, or movie nights it has been a truly one of a kind, heart warming experience.
