1. Boren Scholarship

What will you discover?

The Boren Scholarship is an initiative of the National Security Education Program that provides funding to undergraduate scholars to immerse to a new culture and study fields that are critical to U.S. national security. Boren-funded summer programs are eight weeks long and limited to American STEM students.

2. Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

Aiming to encourage students to study diverse foreign languages and intern abroad, the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship program offers aid to undergraduates with limited financial means. All U.S. citizens attending public or private academic institutions located in all 50 states and Puerto Rico are eligible to apply for this international scholarship program.

3. CEA Study Abroad Scholarships

CEA Study Abroad is committed to increase all students’ access to study abroad and enhance their global competence through financial aid and scholarship programs. University and college students can choose from one of three CEA scholarship categories: Merit-based, Diversity, and Need-based. To be eligible for these study abroad scholarships, students must enroll in any CEA Study Abroad Program.

4. AIFS Study Abroad Scholarships & Grants

Aside from providing high quality education program abroad, AIFS also awards scholarships, grants, and financial support to deserving students. Eligible students will have the opportunity to choose from a diverse array of study abroad scholarship offered by AIFS.

5. SIT Study Abroad Scholarships

6. Corinne Jeannine Schillings Scholarships

To preserve the memory of Corinne Jeannine Schillings, the Corinne Jeannine Schillings Foundation provides financial assistance to women pursuing their undergraduate degree and studying foreign languages and cultures.

7. Eastern European Study Abroad Scholarship

Eastern European Study Abroad (EESA) is the leading international education organization in Eastern Europe. EESA believes all students should have equal opportunity to study abroad, therefore, they offer scholarships and discounts to eligible participants.

8. Spanish Studies Abroad Scholarships

Since 2001, Spanish Studies Abroad has been awarding scholarships to students who have a strong passion for learning the Spanish language. Students can apply for Spanish Studies Abroad Scholarships in two categories: Merit-based or Diversity. Spanish Studies Abroad scholarship opportunities are available only to students studying on one of their programs. This does not include Custom Programs or Faculty-led Programs.

9. Cultural Vistas STEM LAUNCH

Spend your scholarship dollars on a trip to Myanmar.

Cultural Vistas provides students and faculty members of Spelman and Morehouse Colleges with the opportunity to learn about the STEM fields in Germany. With the support of The Halle Foundation, students from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) based in the state of Georgia can apply for the STEM LAUNCH Study Tour program, which kicked off in 2018.

  • Award: The majority of the program costs (airfare, accommodations, travel within Germany, activities, and logistical support prior to departure and upon re-entry) are covered through The Halle Foundation’s generous grant.

10. The Intern Group Global Leader Grant

The Intern Group grants scholarships to ambitious, global-minded students or recent graduates who want to enhance their professional and personal development and take their studies to the next level. There are four (4) Global Leadership Grants offered by The Intern Group for students who want to experience Dublin, Latin America, Australia, or Shanghai.

11. Freeman Awards for Study in Asia

IFSA-Butler believes study abroad should be within reach for every student. All financially incapacitated participants of IFSA-Butler programs can apply for a range of need-based scholarships and grants.

13. HACU Study Abroad Scholarship Programs

14. CGEE Students of Color Endowed Scholarship

To create a diverse community of co-learners abroad, the Center for Global Education and Experience (CGEE) awards students from historically disadvantaged groups financial assistance to participate in a CGEE program. The Students of Color Endowed Scholarship exists to provide encouragement to students of color to study abroad.

15. Diversity Network Summer Scholarship

Diversity Abroad is dedicated to preparing the next generation to global leaders through international education and access to career opportunities. Underrepresented students are given the opportunity of a lifetime to apply for a summer scholarship and study/travel in any country they choose.

  • Required Diversity Criteria: Economically disadvantaged students (African-American/Black, Asian, Hispanic/Latino, Multiracial/ethnic or Indigenous/Native-American, students with disabilities and first generation) who are full-time undergraduates at a community college or university in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and United States
  • Award: $1,000

16. TEAN Abroad Summer Scholarships

Committed to giving students an opportunity to experience study abroad, TEAN provides scholarships to stand-out students annually. This opportunity includes full ride scholarships, need- and merit-based scholarships, diversity scholarships, photography scholarships, and many others. TEAN scholarships are offered to undergraduates studying on U.S. soil and participating in a TEAN summer program.

17. Global Experiences’ Global Leader Scholarship

18. CIEE Summer Grants for PELL Students & Discounts for Program Extensions

Take your studies seriously and your experience abroad will payoff in your career.

CIEE offers two special summer study abroad scholarships to their students — first, all students enrolled in a summer study abroad short-term program are now eligible to receive a 20% discount off second and third sessions. Extensions haven't looked this good since Nicki Minaj! For Pell recipients demonstrating high financial need, CIEE will cover air fare ($750-$2000 depending on program location). These summer study abroad grants are also applicable for January, semester, and year-long CIEE programs.

19. Travel Access Project's Gap Year Grants

Are you looking not to just study abroad, but to study abroad for a YEAR? We bet gap year scholarships and grants sound preeeetttty good — and you're right. They're awesome. And thanks to the Travel Access Project (TAP), they're also easier to get than ever. TAP is giving away 10 $3000 scholarships to young folks taking a gap year after high school. Whoever said gap years aren't affordable CLEARLY hasn't seen this!

20. The Sleep Sherpa's Dreamers Scholarship

The best part of sleep is your dreams. The Sleep Sherpa is a dreamer and wants to help students make their dreams come true. That’s why we created an annual scholarship of $1,000 to be used towards furthering your education and your dreams.

21. Fund for Education Abroad

FEA is the go-to scholarship source for students who identify as traditionally underrepresented. That means if you're a minority student, first-generation student, or a community college student, you'll receive preference over other applicants when it comes down to it.

1. Critical Language Scholarship

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) is a program of the U.S. Department of State that is committed to broadening the base of Americans learning and mastering critical languages and cultures of other countries. This is a fully funded scholarship opportunity.

2. DAAD North America University Summer Course Grant

Travel like you mean it.

Students from any field of study are welcomed to apply for this grant program offered by DAAD North America. However, all applicants must have completed at least four semesters of university level German language instruction prior to the start of their program. This grant is only applicable to DAAD’s three week summer course.

  • Degree Level: Bachelors (Sophomore and above) and Masters
  • Award: €850
  • Deadline: TBA

3. Fund for Education Abroad

The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) offers a range of scholarships for summer study abroad, based on certain geographic, demographic, personal, and program specific criteria. FEA strongly believes in the importance of diversifying students studying abroad, hence, students who are traditionally underrepresented in international student populations are encouraged to apply.

  • Degree Level: Bachelors
  • Amount: up to $10,000 for Full Academic Year, $5,000 for Fall and Spring Semester, minimum of $1,250 for Summer Term
  • Deadline: TBD
